Aussie guest robbed at marriage party

An Australian citizen was robbed of valuables at a marriage venue on Sunday afternoon. Christopher Trenton Hall was busy capturing images of the Indian wedding when miscreants decamped with his valuables kept in a bag at Gurudwara Singh Sabha on Kamptee Road.

Hall was part of the party of a local corporator's son, who married an Australian girl. Police said the party was hosted by the family of corporator Arvind Pal Singh, alias Babbi Bawa, after his son returned to Nagpur with his Australian bride.

Hall was among the invitees who had come down to India to attend the ceremony here. He had kept his bag at a place at the venue before getting busy clicking photographs of the marriage ceremonies. Hall was left puzzled after realising that his bag was not where he left it.

Police said that Hall lost two i-phones worth Rs 17,000 each, 50 Australian dollars and Indian currency worth Rs 7,000. He also lost his visa and other documents. Hall was lucky not to have lost his passport, which was with him. Jaripatka police has registered an offence.
