DTE raises eligibility for PG mgmt courses

The directorate of technical education (DTE), Mumbai, has announced dates for the entrance examination to its management courses. The 'MAH-MBA/MMS-CET 2011' would be held on February 27 from 2pm while results would be announced on the DTE's website on April 11 at 4pm.

Interestingly, the Mumbai-based government organisation has revised its basic eligibility criteria for aspirants. Now, they need to score at least 50% aggregate marks at graduation. Till last year, they just needed 45% to become eligible. For a few years after the entrance started, the criteria had been 50%. Since the number of students was less as compared to the seats available, the criteria was revised to 45% by the Maharashtra government, which continued till last year.

"We've raised the eligibility criteria as per guidelines framed by the All India Council for Technical Education ( AICTE). The apex body has announced common guidelines for all such courses in the country, which is 50% for open category and 45% for reserved category," technical education director Subhash Mahajan told TOI.

He added that sale of applications forms and information brochures had already started from Thursday and students could also get the complete schedule on their website. The brochure will be available for Rs 1,150 to general category candidates and for Rs 950 for reserved category. It would be available at major post offices in all cities and towns across the state. The second stage of group discussions and personal interview will be conducted from May 10 to 31, while final merit list will be released on June 23.
