Rural schools in dist to have toilets

Good news for children taking education in Zilla Parishad schools. The central government is helping construction of proper toilets in 1468 ZP schools in Nagpur district.

ZP chief executive officer Anand Bharkade told reporters that there were 1528 ZP schools in the district. Many schools had toilets for girls while while boys had no other option but to relieve themselves in the open around the schools.

Under central government's Project Implementation Plan, the ZP had sent a proposal to construct 2219 toilets in 1468 ZP schools. The government had sanctioned the proposal and work on it had already started. Constructions of 1,569 toilets had already been completed. Similarly, 343 more toilets would also be constructed in Anganwadis. The central government provides Rs 35,000 for construction of each toilet and Rs 8,000 for urinals in Anganwadis.

Health committee meet

Zilla Parishad members have decided to form an inquiry committee to check irregularities in health related schemes implemented under National Rural Health Mission. Health committee chairman Nitin Rathi said that under NRHM as many as 29 primary health centres were selected in the district. Each PHC received Rs 5 lakh for upgradation, while many sub-centres received Rs 20,000 for various developmental works. ZP president Suresh Bhoyar and Rathi clarified that nobody would be spared if any irregularities came to fore.

The ZP members also passed a resolution to promote staff of health department. Rathi said that the ZP would send a proposal to state government to fill up vacant posts in the department.
